after exploring two islands and a national park over the last three weekends, i decided to take a little break from traveling. this weekend will be dedicated to exploring my home city. i have been here for a month now, and it will be my first non-traveling weekend since i started teaching. it was also supposed to be my first chance at sleeping-in since being in the states.

then i realized that i never really sleep-in wherever i am, so i ended up waking up at 9am. since everyone was sleeping, i decided to jump on my motorcycle and head down south along the coast. usually after school i head up north to the lookout piers to watch the sunset.

during my first week here i walked down the same road to try and figure out more about my surroundings. i found plenty of stores, restaurants, and food vendors along the way, but nothing really perked my interest as much as one particular street. a segmented concrete wall lined the left-hand of the street, while a run-down apartment building held the right side.

the concrete wall seemed to follow the street into the horizon. to my sheer excitement, each segment of the wall was spray painted with different colors, themes, ideas, and languages. some segments were in better condition than others, however it seemed as though nobody has touched the wall in quite some time.

the art did not stop there. the apartment on the opposite side of the street had painted glass, doors, and window frames. although the bottom floor looked deserted, people definitely occupied the floors above.

this is the only place i have seen a hint of street art here in chonburi, but now it makes me excited to find more.
